MHT has implemented new health and safety protocols to keep students, teachers, parents, staff, and volunteers safe:
- Maximum class sizes of 10 students.
- Masks are required for anyone 5 and older on the MHT campus (All K - 12 dance classes).
- Social distancing of at least 6 feet will be mandatory and adhered to during class sessions.
- Parents are invited to drop students off and may wait for them outside on the MHT grounds, but may not congregate in waiting areas.
- Students will be checked in at the start of each class with a temperature check.
- Hand sanitizer and frequent hand washing will be encouraged.
- Each education area will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized between each session.
- Teachers have qualified substitutes available in case a quarantine situation arises.
- Virtual options are prepared in the event classes cannot meet in person once the semester begins.
What to wear:
Shoes: Black Tap, black jazz, pink ballet shoes (depending on the class).
Clothing: Please wear comfortable clothing for tap/jazz classes with hair pulled away from the face (t-shirt and leggings or shorts).
Ballet students should wear a leotard and leggings or tights with hair in a bun.
Where to go:
Classes are held in MHT’s NEW dance studios located at 206 & 208 KY Avenue! The lobby is on the backside of these buildings - there is a parking lot off 2nd Street behind the Finkel building.

Meet the Program Director:
Emi Chapman Hensel is instructor/choreographer for DanceMHT and is principal choreographer for Market House Theatre, including the recent musicals Mamma Mia, The Addams Family, Hairspray, Mary Poppins and All Shook Up.
She has studied Ballet, Modern and Dance Improvisation at Belhaven University.
Cassidy is a professional dancer and choreographer from Paducah, KY. She holds an M.F.A. in Choreography from Jacksonville University and a B.A. in Theatre from Murray State. She has trained with both the Nashville Ballet Company and Broadway Dance Center in NYC, where she became certified to teach Theatre dance, Tap, and Jazz through their professional training program. In addition, she is a 2 year alumnus of the Rockettes Summer Intensive program. Cassidy has had the privilege to both teach and choreograph for Murray State University for multiple musicals in recent years and additionally worked as choreographer for the world famous Stagedoor Manor in Loch Sheldrake, New York and the Florida Repertory Theatre in Fort Meyers. She is very excited to be joining the Dance MHT team and looks forward to sharing her passion for dance with everyone!
Ashlee Brotherton is a dancer/choreograpger from Louisville, KY. She received her Bachelors in Musical Theatre from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glascow, United Kingdom. She has trained with members of The Royal Ballet, The Royal Scottish Ballet, Matthew Bourne's New Adventures and English National Ballet. Ashlee specializes in jazz and contemporary dance with an emphasis on Broadway-style jazz, and has choreographed several shows in the area including West Side Story at PTHS and Disney's Beauty and the Beast, JR. at MHT. She is very excited to get back into the studio with her students!
Kathryn Johnston has appeared in several shows at MHT including Disney's Frozen Jr., Disney's Beauty and The Beast Jr., and The Addams Family. She attended The Governor’s School of The Art in 2019 for Musical Theatre. Kathryn started dancing at DanceMHT in 2015 and was a Footlights and DanceMHT teaching assistant until she graduated high school in spring of 2020.
