Based on the 2003 motion picture!
When Annie’s husband John dies of leukemia, she and best friend Chris resolve to design and sell a calendar to raise money for a new settee in the local hospital waiting room. When they realize that their typical landscape and covered-bridge photos won’t get them far, they manage to persuade four fellow Women’s Institute members to pose with them for an “alternative” calendar – discreetly nude! The news of the women’s charitable venture spreads like wildfire…but with all the new-found fame, Chris and Annie’s friendship is put to the test.
Full of warmth and wit, Calendar Girls is based on the true story of eleven WI members who posed nude for a calendar to raise money for the Leukemia Research Fund. Since its opening, this comedy has become the fastest-selling play in British theatre history.
